Ubisoft Mainz has unveiled a new trailer showcasing Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, offering a deeper look into the game's setting and gameplay. While previous announcements highlighted Lazio and Albion as explorable regions, the trailer suggests Lazio serves as a tutorial-like introduction before players embark on the main adventure in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts as a peaceful region, but a catastrophic event forces players to seek refuge and expansion in the challenging lands of Britain (Albion). Albion presents a stark contrast to Lazio, characterized by a harsh climate, rebellious tribes, and its geographical isolation from Rome, posing significant governance challenges.
Players take on the role of a Roman governor, tasked with establishing and managing settlements in Albion. Success won't rely solely on military might; diplomacy and cultural understanding will be key to forging alliances and maintaining peace. A notable feature is the customizable ships, allowing players to strategically balance speed (via oarsmen) and firepower (with onboard archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
