Remedy Entertainment's Latest Game Development Updates: Control 2, Condor, and More
Remedy Entertainment recently unveiled significant progress on several upcoming titles, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and the codenamed Condor project. This update, shared in the company's financial report, provides insights into each game's development stage and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
The highly anticipated Control 2 has reached a crucial development milestone: production readiness. Remedy confirmed the game is now fully playable, and the team is scaling up production efforts, focusing on rigorous testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Active Development
Codename Condor, the Control universe's multiplayer spin-off, is in full production. The development team is actively creating diverse maps and mission types, undergoing both internal and limited external playtesting to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's debut in the live-service game market, with a planned "service-based fixed price" release model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion has received positive critical and player reception, and the game itself has largely recouped its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, with a Collector's Edition following in December. Pre-orders are available on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is currently refining a complete playable version, concentrating on unique gameplay features to distinguish the remake.
Remedy's Future with Control and Alan Wake
Remedy emphasized its long-term strategy for the Control and Alan Wake franchises, having recently acquired full rights to the Control IP from 505 Games. This grants them complete creative and publishing control. The company is exploring self-publishing and potential partnerships, with further details expected by year's end.
Remedy intends to leverage the interconnected Remedy Connected Universe, linking Control and Alan Wake, for future growth. The company also continues its collaboration on the Max Payne franchise. More announcements regarding these franchises and upcoming game developments are anticipated throughout the year.
